Noor Mukadam, the daughter of a former Pakistani diplomat, was discovered beheaded in the affluent F-7/4 suburb of Islamabad last year. This murder generated public indignation and garnered media attention unlike any other recent crime against women.
Zahir Jaffer, a childhood friend of the victim and a citizen of the United States of Pakistani descent, was apprehended at the crime scene, his apartment, on the day of the murder.
He was accused in October last year and sentenced to death by a sessions court in Islamabad on Thursday, following extensive legal proceedings.
