Kenya Police regrets shooting Arshad Sharif

NAIROBI: The National Police Service of Kenya confirmed that the incident occurred last night along the Kwenia farm/Kamukuru Marram road in Magadi, where a person, identified as Arshad Mohammed Shariff, a Pakistani national aged 50, was fatally wounded by a police officer while traveling as a passenger in a motor vehicle KDG 200M.

Sharif's driver "drove through" the police barricade, according to the police department. They were then shot at, fatally wounding the late Arshad Mohammad Shariff.

The Kenyan police also expressed remorse for the event and stated that the appropriate authorities were investigating to determine the appropriate course of action.

After visiting Sharif's home, Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb told the media that the journalist was shot an hour from Nairobi at a police roadblock.

Ann Makori, the head of Kenya's Independent Policing Oversight Authority, stated during a press conference that a "rapid response team" had been dispatched to examine the death of Arshad Sharif.
