WHO lauds FDI, Pakistan

In an effort to improve vaccine storage capacity, the Federal Directorate of Immunisation (FDI)  opened a dry storage facility.

Dr Ahmed Al Mandhari, Regional Director of the World Health Organization, and Dr Palitha Mahipala, WHO Representative for Pakistan, inaugurated the unit.

According to the statement, the new building has improved the warehouse's storage capacity for vaccine-related materials and other equipment.

"WHO is focused on supporting Pakistan's federal and provincial governments in technologically implementing the Routine Immunisation in Pakistan and working to improve the country's health infrastructure for quality services," said Dr Al Mandhari, who is in Pakistan to participate in the Polio Oversight Board and meet with high-level leadership.

As part of this commendation, he also lauded WHO's tight cooperation with government colleagues in implementing health programmes.
