The Chief Executive Officer of Poverty Eradication Initiative (PEI), SGCH, Dr Muhammad Taufiq, informed that the Pediatric Psychology Ward and OPD were being introduced in Sindh’s second largest pediatric care hospital soon adding that pediatric psychologist and other support staff had been hired to set up new ward.
He explained that pediatric psychology was a multidisciplinary field of both scientific research and clinical practice, which attempted to address the psychological aspects of illness, injury, and the promotion of health behaviours in children.
He said that the Children’s Hospital would become the first public sector hospital of Sindh, where a separate ward dedicated to pediatric psychology was being established to cater to psychological problems of children. He further informed that Provincial Minister of Health, Sindh, is likely to inaugurate the new psychology ward in the hospital soon.
