He said during a recent media briefing held at the SIUT. He said that the SIUT has been serving the people of this country for many decades. In the time of need, be it earthquakes, floods, or other natural calamities, the SIUT has been at the forefront of serving the people of the country without discriminating based on caste, color, creed, and language.
Prof Adib ul Hasan Rizvi highlighted that the SIUT is providing free health care to millions of peoples every year. The SIUT conducts more than 1200 hemodialysis every day and more than 400 renal transplants per year, along with routine urology and nephrology services, hepatobiliary surgeries, and care for adults and children alike, all free of cost.
As the coronavirus pandemic continues to wreak havoc, in this time of need, again, the SIUT is helping the motherland and its people. The SIUT will provide free testing and free care for the people of our country. We have screened more than two hundred patients, and eight of them tested positive for the virus, noted Dr Rizvi.
On this occasion, Prof Rizvi announced that Prof Fazal Akhtar, Head of the Department of Nephrology, would be the focal person from the SIUT to deal with coronavirus patients. Additionally, people can call the SIUT’s helpline number, 021-99215469, for any guidance related to the COVID-19.
The SIUT has established an isolation ward for positive coronavirus patients. For awareness, the SIUT published posters, booklets, and provided training to its doctors and paramedical staff on how to combat the coronavirus situation.
Doctors from the Infectious Diseases Department of the SIUT were also present on this occasion.
