18th Convocation of Hamdard University

The 18th Convocation of Hamdard University (HU) was held recently, where students from various faculties received their graduate and post graduate degrees in different disciplines. President Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain was the chief guest while various government officials, members of Board of Governors HU, Deans & Directors of all faculties of HU, Faculty members of HU and & other educational institutes were also present on this occasion.

The Convocation began with a traditional entry of an academic procession. The Vice Chancellor of HU - Prof Dr Hakim Abdul Hannan presented the annual report and stated that; With the collective efforts of all teaching and non teaching staff at Hamdard University, the mission of Shaheed Hakim Mohammad Said will be achieved very soon. He also said that; Hamdard University is the only private university which offers various graduate and post graduate program from seven different faculties. Various regulatory bodies have also expressed full confidence on the quality of education at HU.

The best graduates from each faculty were invited to receive the “Shaheed Hakim Mohammad Said Gold Medal” from the Chief Guest. Then the eligible students who had full filled the criteria for Ph.D degrees were invited to receive their Doctorate degrees.

The oath taking ceremony was conducted for all the students by their respective deans and then all the students from different faculties were invited individually to receive their degrees.

The Chancellor Hamdard University - Madam Sadia Rashid made a speech, saying that; All students should work hard with honesty. All the passing graduates are now ambassadors of Hamdard University. It is now their moral responsibility to elevate the image of Hamdard University. The achievements and hard work of the graduates should be recognized in every field where they find opportunity to work. She also congratulated the parents of all the students who selected Hamdard University and graduated successfully.

In the end chief guest President Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain spoke to the audience, saying that; This is the moment when all the graduates are entering their practical life. You will find opportunities and difficulties simultaneously in life and you can only succeed by meeting the challenges through sincere hard work and applying your sound knowledge and skills. You must work hard for the progress of your country. The government realizes the importance of higher education, and is investing in high quality academic infrastructure. He appreciated the contributions of Shaheed Hakim Mohammad Said towards national progress. He also congratulated the students and their parents.
