KARACHI: Health officials have confirmed the presence of the poliovirus in environmental samples from Dadu. This marks the first instance of poliovirus detection in environmental samples in Dadu this year. In addition to Dadu, poliovirus has been identified in environmental samples from 8 other districts.
Authorities reported that the poliovirus has been found in environmental samples from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Karachi, Loralai, and Quetta.
To date, more than 220 environmental samples from 52 districts across Pakistan have tested positive for the poliovirus, with 9 children confirmed to have been infected.
