ISLAMABAD: In response to the growing threat of dengue fever, the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has initiated comprehensive surveillance and crackdown operations across the city to prevent the disease's spread.
Under the direction of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad, Irfan Nawaz Memon, assistant commissioners (ACs) have been deployed to conduct intensive dengue surveillance activities.
An ICT administration spokesperson said efforts are focused on eliminating potential mosquito breeding sites and ensuring hospitals are prepared to handle dengue cases.
In this connection, Shalimar AC led an operation, resulting in the lodging of FIRs and arrests of owners of several commercial properties where dengue larvae were found, holding them accountable for non-compliance with health regulations.
Similarly, Saddar AC oversaw dengue surveillance in the G-12 and D-12 sectors to expose mosquito breeding sites and implement preventive measures.
ADC (East) supervised similar operations in the G-8 sector, ensuring thorough monitoring and control activities to safeguard the public against spread of dengue fever.
