KARACHI- Sindh Government Lyari General Hospital’s (LGH) administration faced an immense amount of trouble whilst catering medical emergencies on general election’s day , as majority of their doctors and helping staff were assigned with various election duties.
Sources at Lyari General Hospital informed that, around 165 doctors out of 190 were deputed on general duties. About 60 staff nurses and paramedics were also assigned election duties. Meanwhile, only five staff members were available to fulfill hospital’s responsibilities.
The administration also shut down some major departments of the hospital.
As the hospital is located within a sensitive area, any unpleasant scenario could’ve taken place, and patient dealing would have been difficult due to shortage of staff.
Medical Superintendent, Lyari General Hospital, Dr. Khadim Qureshi, was not available for comments.
