KARACHI: Asad Umar, the Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Pakistan, recently slammed the PPP-led Government of Sindh for failing to provide security to the new Green Line BRT service in Karachi.
Stones had been thrown at the newly launched Green Line bus service in Karachi between Surjani and Numaish.
The stone-pelting incident reportedly damaged buses' side glasses and window panes on the green line track.
The stones pelted from the pedestrian bridge damaged the bus infrastructure, but no passenger was wounded.
Asad Umar criticised the Government of Sindh for failing to secure Karachi's first modern transport system. He stressed that since the federal government initiated the project, the province is now responsible for bus security.
"Will Centre has to deploy Army for bus security," he asked the Government of Sindh. Further, he advised the Government of Sindh to apprehend the perpetrators to prevent future attacks quickly.
