KARACHI: Due to recent spikes in COVID-19 and Omicron infections, micro-smart lockdowns were implemented in four Karachi towns.
The Deputy Commissioner, District Central, Karachi, said the smart lockdown was imposed on the district health officer's suggestion.
Smart lockdown had been implemented in Gulberg, Liaquatabad, North Karachi, and North Nazimabad. Smart lockdown would be implemented in these towns till February 5.
The notification indicates that Omicron variant cases had surged in certain places. The smart lockdown is meant to contain Omicron and safeguard the people.
The notification also highlighted mandatory COVID-19-related SOPs, such as wearing masks and maintaining social distance.
