ISLAMABAD: In recognition of its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of medical education in the country, the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) has been granted accreditation by the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME).
With this accreditation, PMDC joins an exclusive group of institutions recognized by WFME, emphasizing its dedication to excellence and quality in medical education.
This acknowledgment presents a lot of opportunities for Pakistani medical students, facilitating their eligibility for the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) and the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE).
Expressing delight, PMDC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, remarked, "We are thrilled to attain recognition from WFME, a testament to our relentless endeavors to enhance medical education standards in the country. This accomplishment paves the way for new collaborative ventures and ensures our medical graduates are well-prepared to meet global healthcare standards."
Dr. Rizwan thanked all stakeholders involved, including the federal health minister, secretary, surgeon general, PMDC council members, and Mr. Farzand Ali, International Consultant on Collaboration and Recognition, for their support throughout the accreditation process.
He also lauded the contributions of medical colleges and hospitals, such as Shifa College of Medicine, Khyber Medical College Peshawar, University of Lahore, Agha Khan Medical College Karachi, and Army Medical College Rawalpindi, for their commitment and support.
WFME accreditation aligns Pakistan's medical education sector with global best practices and standards and underscores PMDC's dedication to excellence and enhancement in medical education.
