RAWALPINDI: Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi, Retired Captain Anwar-ul-Haq recently announced to convert the unutilised building of Red Crescent hospital into a hospital and shelter home. This would be the second home for homeless in the garrison city.

Anwar-ul-Haq said that since Red Crescent hospital building has been lying idle for the last six years, the district government had decided to use it for gynae and general medicines patients. He said the basement of the hospital would be used as shelter home while two floors of the hospitals would be handed over to Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) to run the hospital.

“Free of cost medical care will be provided to all patients and the expenses of the hospital will be borne by RCCI and other philanthropists,” he said and added that the board of directors would be formed under his chairmanship.

Anwar further said the district government wanted to use the hospital for the patients. He said the building was located at prominent place and would be accessible to the patients and homeless people.
