KARACHI: The Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (IPS) at Jinnah Sindh Medical University (JSMU) has inaugurated the two-day 5th Annual Innovation Pharmacy Conference, in collaboration with the non-profit group Giving Back to Pharmacy in Pakistan.
“At JSMU, we are committed to promoting innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration,” said Vice-Chancellor Prof Amjad Siraj Memon, adding that the moot embodies varsity’s vision to become a global leader in pharmaceutical research, driving transformative change in healthcare.
IPS Principal Prof Huma Ali highlighted the significance of collaboration during the opening ceremony, stating, “Innovation and multidisciplinary teamwork are vital to unlocking the pharmaceutical industry’s full potential. By fostering partnerships across disciplines, we can accelerate the development of therapies and technologies to revolutionise healthcare.”
Registrar Dr Azam Khan reiterated JSMU’s commitment to innovation, saying that the event reinforces the university's status as a premier hub for cutting-edge pharmaceutical research.
Prominent speakers included Vice Principal Dr Huma Shareef and Professor Syed Masroor Ahmed, Principal of SMC-JSMU, who stressed the importance of teamwork in addressing the complex challenges facing the healthcare sector.
The event also featured workshops conducted by Dr Hafsa Ashfaq and Dr Munazza Qureshi, focusing on “Accuracy, Precision, and Learning from Errors” and “Formulary Management and Drug Shortages.”
The conference provides a platform to the pharmaceutical community for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and exploration of the latest advancements that will shape the future of pharmaceutical innovation in Pakistan and beyond.
