PMA Says MDCAT Should Be Abolished

LAHORE: The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has expressed its concern over the alleged involvement of the University of Health Sciences (UHS) administration in the MDCAT paper leak and declares that the entry test has lost its moral authority and should be abolished.

Speaking at a meeting held at the PMA House under the chairmanship of its Lahore chapter president Dr Ajmal Hasan Naqvi on Sunday, the PMA office-bearers said, “As the heinous crime of playing with the future of thousands of deserving students is being committed by the UHS for the last seven years, to continue the said test is unwarranted and unjustified.”

The meeting also unanimously resolved to show its deep concern over non-appointment of regular vice chancellors of the UHS, King Edward Medical University (KEMU) since and other medical universities in Multan, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi.

The meeting observed that the government was deliberately running the Health Department on ad hoc basis just to keep its blue-eyed on top slots for the compliance of its illegal and unmerited orders. “This has led to the destruction of these institutions and presently the system is almost collapsed. The leakage of entry test paper is a glaring example of overlook by the department despite repeated complaints against the UHS administration.”

PMA General Secretary on the behalf of the association urged the government to take a strict action against the UHS administration and appoint regular vice chancellor as well as remove all the corrupt and blue-eyed officials from top slots to avoid such an embarrassment in the future.
