Karachi: Syed Qassim Naveed Qamar, Special Assistant to Chief Minister (CM) Sindh in the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DPED) , recently visited the office of the Karachi Down Syndrome Program (KDSP). Qassim Naveed Qamar also visited various sections of the KDSP and appreciated the facilities and treatment, provided by them to the children suffering from Down’s syndrome. He also assured them that the Sindh Government would offer them their full cooperation in extending these services.

Special Assistant to CM Sindh stated that the children suffering from Down syndrome needed special care, love, and attention. Additionally, those who were working for the cause should be given appreciation. He added that DEPD was also providing consultancy, care, and treatment to the children suffering from Down syndrome. Together the two organizations could achieve better results. He believed that there was a need to create awareness among parents and teachers to identify such children at an early stage so that they might be treated properly.

Meanwhile, on the directives of Qassim Naveed, Universal Children’s Day was celebrated at the Special Education and Rehabilitation Centres across the province.

The children visited the tomb of Quaid-e-Azam Karachi and were given a Guard of Honour by the Naval Guards. They also visited the Dream World Resorts.

In Jacobabad, gift boxes and refreshment boxes were distributed among them. In Sukkur, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) were given five wheelchairs.
