UHS Lahore To Get $49,000 from IDB

According to the letter sent from the Jeddah headquarters of the IDB, the bank would make a financial contribution to the development of the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital in Kaduna State, Nigeria, at the request of the Nigerian government.

Under the Technical Cooperation Program, the money has been given to UHS.

Doctors and nurses will receive this instruction from the university via telemedicine, including frequent teleconsultation sessions.

According to Professor Javed Akram, Vice-Chancellor, UHS, the lack of skilled healthcare staff is one of Nigeria's greatest challenges.

He added that the density of nurses, midwives, and doctors was ineffective for a country as large as Nigeria, adding that the healthcare statistics in Nigeria are appalling.

According to him, the university had an agreement with the Nigerian government to train medical professionals in Nigeria.

He added that the university was also using telemedicine to educate medical professionals in Afghanistan as well as Nigeria.

Pakistan's Corps Commander Lahore, Lt. Gen Muhammad Abdul Aziz HI (M), will serve as the keynote speaker, while LGU VC Maj-Gen (Retd) Shahzad Sikandar and a number of prominent media analysts and owners, as well as top academics in communication studies from around the world, will be in attendance.
