MC vows to help solve KIHD & KMDC problems

KARACHI- The city’s metropolitan commissioner, Samiuddin Siddiqui, has vowed to help solve problems being confronted by Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases (KIHD) and Karachi Medical & Dental College (KMDC) on priority. 

He also set up a committee to improve the financial health of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) hospitals, dispensaries and maternity homes.

He was presiding over a meeting KMC officers held to review the financial position of KMC’s health care institutions. It was attended, among others, by KMC’s financial adviser Afaq Saeed, senior director (Finance) Munawwar Imam, senior director (Medical and Health Services) Dr Salma Kausar, Principal Karachi Medical and Dental College Prof (Dr) Waqar H. Kazmi and all the medical superintendents of major hospitals of KMC.

The committee formed to review the financial health of KMC-run hospitals and dispensaries has been asked to submit its report within a week so that necessary measures could be taken in this regard as soon as possible.

Mr Siddiqui, on this occasion, also gave directives to the officials for improving recovery position of their respective departments.
He also instructed the employees of medical & health services department, who are working in other departments on deputation, to immediately report to their parent departments, or else strict disciplinary action would be taken against them.
