ISLAMABAD: Deserving people across the country would be provided cutting-edge, free healthcare, pledges Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony of the Jinnah Medical Complex in Islamabad, the PM emphasized the project's importance, claiming it will set a new benchmark for medical treatment not only in Pakistan but also across the region.
He hailed the complex as a gift from the coalition government to the residents of Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and neighboring areas.
He thanked Sultan Ali Alaana and the Aga Khan Foundation for their free consultancy services for the hospital, announcing that 600 kanals of land had already been allocated for the hospital, with an additional 200 kanals of commercial land to follow.
Reflecting on his tenure as Punjab chief minister, Mr Sharif listed his efforts to ensure free medicines and tests for underprivileged patients in the province’s hospitals. He said the new facility would continue this legacy by offering free treatment to all.
He expressed regret over the setbacks faced by the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) due to certain individuals.
However, he reiterated his commitment to the timely completion of the Jinnah Medical Complex, promising the allocation of necessary funds and fair compensation for land acquisition through a transparent, one-window operation at market prices.
