NCOC relaxes COVID-19 restrictions in Karachi

KARACHI: Karachi and two other cities with a COVID-19 positive rate of less than 10 per cent had their limitations lifted by the NCOC.

NCOC declared that because the disease is declining in prevalence, the body has agreed to remove restrictions on non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs) in these locations.

Prior to this, the NCOC had prolonged the already-enforced COVID-19 restrictions in six cities until February 21, including Karachi, Gilgit and Muzaffarabad, Mardan and Hyderabad.

COVID-19 restrictions were eased in Karachi, Peshawar, and Hyderabad due to a low positive rate. However, in Gilgit, Mardan, and Muzaffarabad, where the COVID-19 positivity rate is above 10%, limits will remain in place. For cities with a positive rate of ten per cent or above, there are restrictions.

All indoor gyms, sports, movie theatres, and amusement parks are only open to those who have been properly vaccinated. 

Only those who are properly vaccinated are permitted entry into the sanctuaries.

A total prohibition on all interior gatherings will be enforced, with a maximum capacity of 300 people allowed for outdoor events/weddings (fully vaccinated).

Only people who have been wholly vaccinated are allowed to enter the Shrines at 50 per cent capacity. 

There are strict COVID-19 guidelines for youngsters under the age of 12 to open schools. COVID-19 regulations, on the other hand, allow educational institutions to open to students ages 12 and up (fully vaccinated).

Only people who have received their entire round of vaccinations are allowed to board the trains, which means that they can maintain a 100 per cent occupancy level. Railways were previously permitted to operate with 80 per cent occupancy. Commuters must wear a mask the entire time they are on the road.
