KARACHI: Engr Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, a member of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Karachi, announced full support to pharmacy students of the Jinnah Sindh Medical University(JSMU) in their struggle for their due rights including registration.
He held a press conference at the JI headquarters, Idara Noor-e-Haq, to appeal the judiciary for justice to the students. The presser was held after a meeting of a delegation of the affected students with the JI leader.
Speaking on the occasion, he said expressed since 2013, three batches of Pharm D have been passed out from the university but both the JSMU and the Pakistan Council of Pharmacy are reluctant to issue No Objection Certificate and license to the students.
He added that the situation was sheer injustice to the students.
The only guilt or crime of the affected students was to take admission in the university, he said, adding that the students have paid tens of thousands of rupees in fee but continuation of education was made difficult for them.
The medical sector and medical education sector have been handed over to mafias, Engr Naeem said. He further said that unfortunately, education is being sold in Pakistan.
He also appealed the Sindh High Court to expedite the case of the students, pending before the court for the last three years.
He demanded of the university and the council to issue NOC and license to the students who have already cleared the dues and semesters.
Syed Ibnul Hassan Hashmi, Head, Public Aid Committee Education Cell, JI, Najeeb Ayubi, Secretary Information, JI, Karachi, Zahid Askari and others also attended the press conference.
