KARACHI- Dr Ziauddin Hospital of Karachi and Apollo Hospital of India have started joint surgeries procedure and established combined liver ward unit for pre & post transplant care at Ziauddin Hospital. The initiative has been named the Peace Clinic.
Group Director of the Apollo Hospital and renowned pediatric liver transplant surgeon Prof Anupam Sibal said; A combined kidney and liver transplantation unit, has been established in collaboration with the Ziauddin Hospital. “I am really satisfied that we have managed to use the expertise of the Indian team of doctors to treat our local patients with severe transplantation needs”. he stated.
“I am very thankful to Dr Asim Hussain and Peace Clinic for giving us the opportunities to utilize our expertise for people of Pakistan,” he added.
The Peace Clinic is a venture between Dr Ziauddin Hospital Pakistan and the Apollo Hospital India that envisions to treat the kidney and liver transplant patients of Pakistan.
Chairman of Inter Global Services and founder of the venture, Navaid Aslam said “We have taken the initial step to resolve the kidney and liver transplantation needs of our country”.
“This initiative was taken by Chairman Dr Asim Hussain Ziauddin Hospital to establish Peace Clinic. We appreciate his dynamic vision which will be very beneficial for both India and Pakistan’s relationship.”
Medical Superintendent Dr Ziauddin Hospital Dr Anoop Dawani said ” I am proud that Ziauddin Hospital is the only hospital in Pakistan that has taken the initiative to capitalize upon the expertise of the Indian doctors and resolve the transplantation issues of the people of our country”.
Earlier, a physical OPD of the Liver Transplant cases for pediatric patients by Prof Anupam Sibal and an online adult OPD by Dr Subhash Gupta was also conducted along with the team of the Apollo Hospital and the Ziauddin Hospital.
A combined kidney and liver transplantation unit is established in collaboration where patients are assessed on the basis of their transplantation needs and then sent to India for the pre transplantation surgeries, if required.
The future outlook of the venture is to initiate joint liver transplantation surgeries in-house at Ziauddin Hospital for which training and development sessions will be held in India for the doctors of Ziauddin hospital Karachi.
