ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Arthroscopy & Sports Surgery Society in collaboration with the Shifa Foundation conducted the 31st Arthroscopy training workshop at the Shifa International Hospital. This two-day Arthroscopy workshop, was supported by Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) and was conducted under the leadership of Dr Sajjad H Orakzai, Consultant Orthopedic Surgery, Shifa International Hospitals Ltd, Islamabad.
The workshop was designed for orthopedic surgeons that intended to become trained in advanced Arthroscopic surgery. The lecture series ranged from Cruciate ligaments, Chondral defects, Shoulder instability, Adhesive Capsulitis, and revision surgery for future treatment in Arthroscopy. This was followed by live surgery to demonstrate ACL reconstruction and partial Meniscectomy by Dr Sajjad.
An extensive list of topics were discussed by numerous faculty members. A healthy debate ensued, which was appreciated both by participants and faculty members.
The workshop was attended by 43 participants, out of these participants 12 had appeared for interviews for fellowship posts. The interview was conducted a day before the workshop.
The collaborative organisations thanked Dr KM Shah, Professor Zahid Askar, Dr Khalid Masood and Dr Muhammad Sufyan, who travelled to help make the event a success.
The participation of Dr Khalid Aslam, Dr Faridullah Zimri & Dr Ali Shami at the event was also appreciated. The team of Shifa Center of Professional Excellence, SCOPE, did excellent organisational work including audiovisual work. It was through the team’s diligence that the whole event was conducted smoothly.
The team was grateful for Dr Sumair Qureshi and his tireless efforts in the smooth running of the event, despite frequent changes in the program and dates.
