ISLAMABAD: The district administration has launched a comprehensive anti-dengue fumigation drive across various areas of the Federal Capital. This initiative involves spraying insecticide into the air to eliminate mosquitoes, effectively reducing their population and preventing the spread of dengue fever.
According to a spokesman for the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration, fumigation operations are actively underway in several locations, including Bilal Masjid, Musa Town, Sarai Kharbuza, Tarnol, and Korang. Areas such as Ghauri Town, Dhoke Syedan, and Pindorian have already been treated.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon has directed all relevant teams to ensure thorough coverage, leaving no area untreated. Citizens are encouraged to report any missed areas to help achieve comprehensive citywide coverage. The DC has also urged residents to cooperate with the authorities in their efforts to combat dengue.
In addition to fumigation, the district administration is committed to providing effective treatment for dengue patients. Dedicated dengue wards have been established in hospitals throughout the city, and the situation is being closely monitored.
This ongoing effort underscores the seriousness of the dengue outbreak and the administration's determination to safeguard public health. As of last week, Rawalpindi has reported 3,220 dengue cases, while Islamabad has recorded 2,276 cases. Authorities also identified 1,143 positive larvae samples in various parts of the city during the same period.
