High Quality CCTV Cameras Installed at CHK

KARACHI- Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) administration  recently installed 18 high resolution closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at different locations of the hospital, to ensure security of the patients, staff and institute, and to monitor staff behaviour.

A CHK administrative official revealed that, more than a dozen CCTV cameras have been nonfunctional since several years due technical faults, which resulted in problems for the administration, in monitoring the staff and wards. It was not possible to keep an eye out for any kind of unethical practice on the hospital premises. Addressing this issue, the administration has now installed 18 new CCTV cameras within the institution, in order to improve the surveillance system.

Currently, 50 CCTV cameras are functioning in the hospital monitoring activities in the wards, emergency rooms, administrative blocks, and other departments. The Gynaecology units have 10 additional cameras. These cameras have been installed to protect hospital employees and patients from security breaches.

Medical Superintendent, Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi, Dr. Sabir Memon, added that, the new cameras have been installed with the help of donors; all the cameras that were out of order, have been replaced as well.

Moreover, the CHK management has decided to install 50 more high-quality CCTV cameras. A formal request has also been sent to Sindh Health Department for the release of budget to install more CCTV cameras, in order to further improve the monitoring system.
