ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has scheduled the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) for September 22, 2024 (Sunday), both in Pakistan and abroad.
The decision was taken in a recent meeting of the council, where the PMDC also announced that the MDCAT syllabus will be uploaded to their website next week, with the registration portal opening soon after that. The council decided to keep the syllabus unchanged from last year to assist students.
Provincial secretaries have been instructed to begin preparations for the exam, a move aimed at considering the larger interests of the students.
Last year, approximately 180,534 students sat for the exams. This year, it is estimated that around 200,000 students will take the exam. The PMDC will also consider the difficulty index of the MDCAT paper to ensure student ease without compromising merit, ensuring smooth conduct of exams across all provinces.
PMDC President Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj announced that MDCAT 2024 will be a paper-based exam held on a single day through provincial public admitting universities, supervised by the council. He said the council prioritizes the bright future of students and is working tirelessly to facilitate them.
Prof. Taj directed all universities conducting the exams to strictly adhere to guidelines and regulations to ensure fairness and transparency in the admission process. He acknowledged the significance of the MDCAT for students seeking admission to medical and dental colleges and assured that all necessary arrangements will be completed on time.
Further details regarding the MDCAT exam, including the schedule, registration process, and other information, will be communicated by the PMDC in the coming days. Aspiring medical students are advised to stay updated and prepared for the upcoming exam by visiting the PMDC website.
