Even After Two Decades - Fate of SACP employees hangs in the balance

KARACHI - Over two dozen contractual employees of Sindh AIDS Control Programme (SACP) have been awaiting regularization of their jobs for the last two decades.

Sources told Medical News that over 25 contractual employees of the SACP, including doctors, lab technicians, computer operators, peons and other staff, who have been working in the organization for the 21 years, have been repeatedly assured by the official of Sindh health department that their services would be regularized, but the light at the end of the tunnel is yet to be seen.

Deploring that the prevailing uncertainty among the contractual employees of the SACP was affecting their performance, sources said that the officials of the health department have, so far, failed to honour their commitment of regularizing jobs of the contractual employees.

They also regretted that although the contractual employees of the SACP had off and on staged demonstrations for the acceptance of their demand, all their efforts have, so far, went in vain.

Sindh AIDS Control Programme’s provincial programme manager, Dr Younis Chachar, could not be contacted for his comments over the issue that had been lingering on for the last 21 years.
