Gusty winds disrupt flight operations in Karachi

KARACHI: Gusty winds had disrupted flight operations at the Karachi airport, and domestic flights from PIA and other private airline companies to Quetta, Lahore, and Islamabad had been delayed.

According to the sources at the airport, flights are expected to resume as soon as the weather improves.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasted that the dust storm would last throughout the day, further lowering the city's temperatures. It further stated that the winds are currently blowing at 35 to 40 kilometres per hour and could increase to 50 to 60 kilometres per hour by the end of the day.

In addition, as gusty winds pounded Karachi, at least five people, including two children, lost their lives and numerous others were injured as roofs and walls collapsed.

Five people lost their lives due to roof, wall, and road collapses as strong winds pounded Karachi. Strong westerly winds, measuring 20-26 nautical miles, toppled trees and knocked down electricity poles, in addition to causing car wrecks, house collapses, and blackouts around the city.
