DUHS Organizes English Language Workshops

KARACHI- The Quality Enhancement Cell of Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) organized a series of workshops on English Language Proficiency, “English at the Workplace”, for the administrative staff of  DUHS at Professional Development Center Lecture Hall, Dow International Medical College, Ojha Campus.

The program began in August, 2017 and consisted of 12 focused training classes to enhance the proficient use of the English language among the administrative staff. The workshop was designed keeping in view the significance of the use of the English language at the workplace, and the importance of its proficiency in both spoken as well as written contexts for professionals at all levels.

The workshop was taught and facilitated by the Vice Principal of DHA and Head of the Department of English, Faisal Dada. This workshop focused upon English communication, its importance in the workplace, oral communication, verbal and non-verbal communication, group communication, communicative language teaching, the golden principles of social etiquette, conversational interaction in the English language and English writing skills.

There were 55 participants from various teaching departments of the Dow University of Health Sciences, including the School of Bio Medical Engineering Technology, College of Biotechnology, College of Pharmacy, Dow International Medical and Dental College, Institutes of Health Professionals’ Education, Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad Khan Institute of Oral Health Sciences, The Institute of Bio-Medical Sciences, The Institute of Health Management, The Institute of Medical Technology, The Institute of Nursing, The Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, National Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology, the School of Public Health.

The workshop concluded with a Certificate Distribution Ceremony for those who successfully completed at the Central library, Dow International Medical College, Ojha Campus. The certificates were awarded to the position holders by the Director.

The Dow University of Health Sciences, well known for providing quality medical education to the students, looks forward to organizing different faculty and staff capacity building workshops and training sessions to cater to the development of their functional skills and competencies. a
