Karachi: The Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) with a view to promoting talents among students organized “Volunteers’ Talent Day”.
Speaking on the occasion, SIUT’s director Prof Adib Rizvi highlighted the genesis of the Institute, saying the prime objective of celebrating the volunteers’ talent day was to promote talents of students who render voluntary services at the hospital as part of their community service.
He exhorted the volunteers not to hesitate in accomplishing the noble goals of their lives.
Founder dean of Humanities and liberal arts at Habib University, Dr Nauman Naqvi, gave an inspirational talk on the topic of “Challenges for the next generation” on the occasion.
He said that in Islam different philosophers preached love and generosity in their teachings that was the concept of Sufism. He presented another logical aspect of mankind and humanity.
Debate, quiz, paintings competitions and musical talent show were also held. Topics of debate, quiz and painting contests focused on healthy lifestyle, prevention from diseases, organ donation, avoiding self-medication, cleanliness and importance of hygiene in our lives.
Prominent personalities belonging to fine arts, showbiz and media participated in the programme and performed as judges of different contests.
The volunteers, along with their family members, patients, educational institution’s faculty members, enjoyed the day-long activities.
