Health Dept imposes complete ban on plastic bags

KARACHI: The Sindh Health Department has imposed a ban on the use of plastic bags in all of Sindh’s hospitals and medical colleges.

Director, General Health Services, Sindh, Dr Masood Ahmed Solangi, has directed the Divisional Director of Health Services and the Karachi division’s district health officers, directors, civil surgeons, and medical superintendents to strictly implement a ban on plastic bag use inside their respective institution’s premises.

They have been instructed to ensure and implement the directions received in the letter and spirit. The matter must be treated as the top priority.

The ban on the use of plastic bags in hospitals and medical colleges has been imposed on the directives of a competent authority i.e., Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah.
