LAHORE: The Punjab Health Department has reported 70 new dengue cases across the province in the last 24 hours. A spokesperson indicated that 60 cases were recorded in Rawalpindi, three in Lahore, and two each in Chakwal, Lodhran, and Attock, with one case in Gujranwala.

In the past week alone, there have been 326 new dengue infections, bringing the total for 2024 in Punjab to 958.

To address the situation, the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department has assured the public that preventive measures are in place, with government hospitals stocked with necessary medications for dengue treatment.

In light of the rising cases, the Health Department has issued an advisory urging citizens to maintain clean and dry environments to prevent mosquito breeding. Cooperation with health teams is essential for controlling the outbreak.

Additionally, a free helpline (1033) has been established for those seeking treatment information or wishing to report dengue-related concerns. Health officials emphasize the importance of vigilance and proactive measures to contain the virus's spread throughout the province.
