KARACHI - The contractual employees of Dengue Prevention and Control Programme (DPCP), Sindh, are deprived of their salary for the last five months, it was reliably learnt.
Services of these contractual employees were hired under emergency action plan on March 24, 2015 by Sindh health department for a period of four months which expired on July 24, 2015.

However, sources said that the contractual employees of DPCP, including social mobilizer, spray men, clerks and other field staff, have not received salary for their entire contractual period of four months.

“In fact, these low-paid employees are deprived of their five months’ salary as they continued to work for one more month following receiving assurance from the DPCP’s manager that they their salary would be arranged shortly,” the sources said, claiming that such a situation had arisen due to lapse of the DPCP’s Rs40 million budget.

However, Sindh Secretary Health Dr Saeed Ahmed Mangnejo, on being apprised about the plight of the DPCP’s contractual employees, said that a summary of their salary was under process and they will get their salary soon.
