KARACHI: In a significant step towards safeguarding children’s rights, the Sindh government, in collaboration with the UNICEF Department of Social Welfare, and other key stakeholders, has launched the Child Protection Information Management System (CPIMS), to mark World Children’s Day.
The launch ceremony, held in Karachi, was attended by prominent figures, including the Minister for Social Welfare Mir Tariq Ali Talpur, provincial secretary, Deputy Head of Mission at the British Deputy High Commission, Martin Dawson and UNICEF Islamabad’s Chief of Child Protection, Ms. Susan Andrew.
Addressing the event, Mr Talpur highlighted the govt’s dedication to children’s welfare, saying:
“Children are the future of our society, and protecting their rights is our top priority. The Sindh government is committed to addressing the challenges faced by children and ensuring they grow up in a safe and nurturing environment.”
He elaborated on the importance of CPIMS, noting that the system will streamline case management and improve decision-making processes.
“This initiative will help identify vulnerable areas and ensure that children in need receive timely support. The Sindh government has always prioritised effective legislation for children’s rights, and CPIMS will reinforce our commitment to leaving no child behind,” he added.
The ceremony included a presentation on CPIMS, followed by its formal launch, besides a skit and a special performance by children.
In addition, a series of activities were held to raise awareness about children’s rights as part of the World Children’s Day celebrations.
