KARACHI: Jinnah Sindh Medical University’s Institute of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation (IPTR-JSMU) hosted an orientation ceremony for the new students. The latter will begin their five-year degree Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programme in the spring semester.
The ceremony was held on Saturday and attended by the head of the departments, faculty members of the Institute of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation-JSMU, and other non-teaching staff of the Institute.
To welcome the students, Prof Shahid Rasul, Acting Vice-Chancellor, JSMU, congratulated the students and said the field of Physical Therapy is growing in popularity, and students should focus their vision towards developing themselves into young professionals excelling in their field.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr Muhammad Khan, Director, Institute of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, JSMU, said that my advice to our new batch of DPT students is to take advantage of the learning opportunities provided by the Institute and contribute to the field of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation.
Dr Azam Khan, Registrar, Prof Lubna Ansari Baig, Chairperson APPNA Institute of Public Health (AIPH-JSMU), Dr Muhammad Khan, Director IPTR-JSMU, Dr Anita Shah, Controller, Examinations, Dr Rahat Naz, Director, Continuous Medical Education, Qazi Shabbir, Assistant Director, Anwar Ahmed Khan, Assistant Director (Administration), Waheed Baloch and other faculty members also attended the session.
While addressing the matters pertaining to professionalism, campus discipline, and social media policies, Professor Lubna advised that students should pay special attention to becoming professional University ambassadors. She further added that students should participate in constructive extracurricular activities and refrain from conflict matters.
In a brief interaction, after the Oath taking ceremony administered by Dr Azam Khan, the senior batch of enrolled students shared some helpful tips and counselled the new inductees to prepare them ahead of starting this new chapter of their lives.
Dr Barrirah Usman introduced the campus facilities and Institute policies to the fresher students, while Dr Sajida Kamran gave a brief summary on the scope of the DPT programme and ended with a vote of thanks to the attendees.
