RAWALPINDI: An infant Afghan girl underwent successful surgery for a cancerous eye at Al-Shifa Eye Trust Hospital here, performed by a team of expert doctors.
The girl, only seven months old, had a complicated case, according to the hospital staff. Retired Maj Gen Rehmat Khan, President of Al-Shifa Eye Trust, personally supervised the operation.
The hospital administration says the doctors operated on 7,000 children for eye cancer and performed around 1,500 tumor operations annually.
