LAHORE: A lift crash at Mayo Hospital, one of Lahore’s busiest healthcare facilities, has left eight individuals injured, including nurses. The incident occurred when the elevator, designed to accommodate six people, was overloaded with nearly double its capacity.

According to the hospital administration, the accident took place as 11 people—nine of whom were nurses—boarded the lift. The excessive load caused the elevator to malfunction, leading to its sudden drop. The impact resulted in three individuals sustaining fractures, while the remaining suffered minor injuries.

The injured were immediately provided medical assistance, and the hospital administration has confirmed that all are in stable condition and out of danger.

Mayo Hospital authorities revealed that the elevator was installed in July 2023 and was in regular use.
