LAHORE: In a significant development, the Young Doctors Association (YDA) has declared the unconditional conclusion of the three-week-long strike in Punjab’s public sector hospitals

after successful negotiations during a late-night sit-in at the General Hospital.

The YDA leadership formally declared the immediate end to the strike, ending the three-week long healthcare standoff.

From the government side, the breakthrough discussions were led by Punjab ministers of health and education, Prof Dr Javed Akram and Mansoor Qadir, respectively, during a meeting ordered by Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi.

Expressing his satisfaction, Prof Dr Javed Akram remarked on the positive development, stating that the prompt resolution of the issue is commendable. Mansoor Qadir echoed this sentiment, noting that the doctors have agreed unconditionally to conclude the strike, leaving a positive impression on the government.

This decision brings relief to the healthcare sector and the public, with hopes for normalised operations and improved healthcare services in government hospitals across Punjab.
