PPMSA flays plan of handing over health facilities to NGOs

Karahci: Rejecting the Sindh government’s policy of handing over the administrative control of public sector hospitals to non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Pakistan Paramedical Staff Association’s (PPMSA) provincial president Muhammad Ismail Jiskanihis said that the move will be opposed by paramedics.

He said that the government’s move of handing over the administrative control of public health facilities to NGOs has created uncertainty among doctors, nurses and paramedics and all of them have decided not to accept the `uncalled for’ and `unjust’ policy of the government.

In a statement issued here, he said that paramedics have already chalked out a protest plan whereby black banners would be hoisted outside the Basic Health Units (BHUs), Rural Health Clinics (RHCs), Taluka Health Units (THUs), and District Headquarter Hospitals (DHQs) across the province and all paramedical staff will wear black armbands to register their resentment over the government’s move.

Besides, the PPMSA has also decided to observe a shutter down strike on Dec 22 across the province, while protest rallies will be taken out from District Headquarter Hospitals to local press clubs.
