KARACHI: The Sindh Health Care Commission has formed four subgroups of the Taskforce for Infection Prevention and Control to deal with infectious diseases smoothly in the future.
Chief Executive Officer, Sindh Healthcare Commission, Dr Minhaj Qidwai, chaired the second meeting of the Taskforce for Infection Prevention and Control. Prof Dr Rafiq Khanani of the Liaquat College of Medicine, Jibran Khalid Kidwai, CTO, MESSCO, Dr Syed Faisal Mehmood, Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases, AKU, Dr Rehana Siddiqui, AKU, Ms Riffat, HOD, IPC&QA at Children’s Hospital, Ms Roshan, HOD, IC at NICVD, and Dr Faiza Bhutto, Deputy Director, SHCC, were present on occasion as well.
The meeting discussed that the Taskforce for Infection Prevention and Control would augment and improve the documentation of injection safety Act- 2011. Training for infection prevention and control will be held for training HCEs’ in collaboration with the MMIDSP.
Under the task force committee, four subgroups were created namely research, education, systems, and training.
The research group will undertake the research study related to current infection prevention and prepare an intervention study. The education group will develop policy guidelines and their dissemination, along with advocacy, communication, and social mobilization.
The systems group will study the relevant acts passed by the Sindh Assembly and waste management systems to recommend guidelines for systems improvement. The training group will develop the 'Train the Trainer’ program for the IPC.
The meeting concluded with all the participants expressing their motivation to work towards the task assigned to each group and report about progress in the next meeting.
