KARACHI - Lyari General Hospital (LGH) has finally got a CT scan machine although the health facility was supposed to have it five years ago.

The CT scan machine, according to sources, was brought to the hospital about five years back, but it could not be made functional until last Tuesday reportedly owing to paucity of funds and due to lack of interest on the part of provincial health authorities. However, the LGH’s incumbent administration finally succeeded in getting the machine installed and operational.

Speaking at a ceremony held to inaugurate the CT scan machine, a member of National Assembly, belonging to Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Shahjahan Baloch, said that provision of health facilities in all underdeveloped areas of Sindh was the top priority of the provincial PPP government.  The ceremony was attended by a large number of doctors, paramedical staff, nurses and other employees of the hospital.

Later, talking to media persons, LGH’s medical superintendent Dr Aziz Soomro said that CT scan machine will facilitate people of Lyari visiting the health facility.

He said that the CT scan machine will be useful in knowing the nature of injuries of those who may become victim of accidents, particularly in road mishaps.

He said that all CT scan tests would be conducted free of cost.

The hospital’s additional medical superintendent, Dr Khadim Hussain Qureshi, also spoke on the occasion.
