KARACHI: An awareness programme organized by Tobacco Smoke-Free City titled Tobacco-Free Karachi was organized at the Council Hall of Gulshan e Iqbal Zone of DMC East.
The awareness programme was attended by officers of various departments of DMC East, Fahim Khan, Municipal Commissioner, Imtiaz Bhutto, Executive Engineer, M&E, Khurshid Ali, Director, Administration, attended the seminar.
Fahim Khan said on the occasion that federal and provincial governments are taking steps for smoke-free cities, which are commendable, and they all will try to participate in this campaign as active participants. Cities can be made smoke free only by implementing the prevailing laws regarding smoking, adding that all possible cooperation in this regard will be ensured.
He directed the advertisement department of DMC East, instructing advertising companies that write smoke-free Karachi or no smoking in advertising content.
He also issued orders to implement the prevailing laws of smoking in DMC East, experts explaining the anti-smoking law at a seminar on smoking and emphasizing if these laws are implemented To be ensured deaths due to smoking can be prevented. On this occasion, a useful anti-tobacco discussion was made part of the seminar. The experts in the seminar also answered the questions of the participants with awareness.
