KARACHI: The Geneva Centre for Humanitarian Studies, the Aga Khan University, and the International Committee of the Red Cross have collaborated to create a new open-access online course, Operational Research for Humanitarians. This unique cooperation combines vast expertise, skills, and resources.

The course begins on October 18, 2022, and provides academic knowledge highlighted by operational and humanitarian instances. This Coursera-hosted MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) gives a theoretical and practical introduction to conducting research in humanitarian settings. It is aimed to provide humanitarian professionals and researchers with the abilities necessary to comprehend, conduct, and oversee research in humanitarian settings. Professor Karl Blanchet, director of the Geneva Centre for Humanitarian Studies, explained why research is essential to humanitarian action.

Dr Sameen Siddiqi, professor and chair of the Community Health Sciences Department at Aga Khan University adds, "In times of humanitarian emergencies, evidence is essential for making educated decisions. Operational Research for Humanitarians is an online course that will assist health professionals in locating practical solutions to ostensibly complicated challenges in difficult conditions."
