NICH’s Satellite Centers being established in 3 cities of Sindh

KARACHI- Provincial Minister for Health and Population Welfare, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho, whilst presiding over a meeting, stated that Sindh Health Department was going to establish Satellite Centers of National Institute of Child Health in Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah and Mithi.


Director NICH, Prof Syed Jamal Raza, and Prof Khem Chand N Morrani were also present at the meeting.


It was discussed that the objective of establishing these Satellite Centers was to reduce the burden on NICH Karachi; and to provide better health care facilities for children, at their doorstep.


Furthermore, Dr. Azra added that, “We have taken initiatives to improve Taluka hospitals in order to reduce burden on big hospitals; whereas Government will give incentives to the doctors who will perform their rightful duties at these satellite centers.”


She also stressed upon the doctors to improve institutional system to reduce death rate among newly born children.


Meanwhile, in another issued statement, Dr. Azra Pechuho talked regarding the reported Polio case, from UC 4 Gadap, Gujro in Karachi. The virus springing up in the environment is a cause for concern, and concrete steps must be taken to vaccinate children.


Dr. Azra also requested the parents to vaccinate their children who are under the age of 5, with OPV during every campaign.
