The Coronavirus Emergency Fund Committee, headed by the Sindh Chief Secretary, Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, further sanctioned PKR 449 million for the procurement of laboratory equipment, PPEs, and other related machinery.
Secretary Finance informed the meeting that the amount collected in the Fund was PKR 3.6030 billion, including PKR 271.9 million donated by 1048 individuals and private organizations.
Briefing the meeting, the Health Secretary told that 46% of the medical equipment purchased from the Fund, have been received while the rest of the equipment is expected to be delivered by June 15, 2020.
Director-General, Provincial Disaster Management Authority, told that the PDMA received 11 ventilators out of which six have been installed at the Jinnah Hospital Karachi.
Chief Secretary directed the Secretary Health to ensure that the ventilators and other equipment are installed in the hospitals as soon as they are received. He told that the government would also purchase 400 beds to upgrade the ICUs at different hospitals.
Chairman, Chief Minister’s Inspection Team, Ahsan Mangi, informed that his team had inspected all the equipment delivered to hospitals till April 15, 2020.
Chief Secretary directed him to submit the CMIT report in the next meeting.
