ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Federal Minister for Health, Dr Nadeem Jan, has condemned the recent killing of polio officer Dr Abdul Rehman in Bajaur, expressing deep sorrow over his martyrdom while on polio duty.
In a statement, Dr Jan said he has been in constant communication with Dr Abdul Rahman's family since learning about the attack. "I ordered immediate transfer of Dr Abdul Rehman to Islamabad for the best medical treatment, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries before the transfer," he stated.
The minister said the perpetrators responsible for Dr Rahman's death will be apprehended, adding that such cowardly acts will not shake the nation's resolve.
He said decisive action will be taken, ensuring that the tragic incident serves as a stern lesson. He reiterated that acts of this nature will not deter the commitment to combat polio in the region.
