First transgender obtains MBBS degree in Pakistan

KARACHI: For the first time in the history of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, a transgender person was given a degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in Karachi.

Sarah Gul made history by becoming the country’s first transgender doctor. She completed her final professional assessment of MBBS from the Jinnah Medical & Dental College in Karachi.

Sarah Gul said, “I am happy to be Pakistan’s first transgender doctor and added that she will strive for the welfare of her community in future”.
