Cylinder explosion kills 12 in Balochistan

KARACHI: The number of people died due to the huge cylinder explosion in Balochistan's Lasbela district has reached 12. 

Police sources said the explosion took place in a shop, which damaged nearby buildings and shops and destroyed 25 motorcycles. Four shops and a hotel were completely gutted by fire after blast. 

Two people died on the spot while more than two dozen were injured. 25 injured were shifted to Burns Centre, Civil Hospital Karachi where 10 more died taking the death toll to 12. 

A total of 13 seriously injured are still undergoing treatment in Burns Centre Karachi. 

The deceased have been identified as Muhammad Qasim, Ghulam Rasool, Barkat Amin, Hidayatullah, Manzoor, Muhammad Yusuf, Iqbal, Zahoor Ahmed, Umar, Das, Mukesh Kumar and Munshi Abdul Razzaq. 

Medical Superintendent, Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi Dr Rubina Bashir said that 25 injured people have been brought for treatment at the Burns Center of Civil Hospital. However, 12 of them died during treatment. 

She said that the condition of some other injured with 70 to 90 percent burns is also critical, adding that the death toll is expected to rise.
