KP government boosts nursing excellence with KMU-UK partnership

PESHAWAR: Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar, has forged a new partnership with SAME RPS, UK, thanks to an initiative led by Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Ali Amin Gandapur and in collaboration with the health department.
The agreement was formalized at the Chief Minister’s House, with Vice Chancellor KMU Meritorious Professor Dr. Zia Ul Haq signing on behalf of KMU and Dr. Ejaz Hussain representing SAME RPS UK. Provincial Minister of Health Syed Qasim Ali Shah, Chief HSRU Dr. Khalil, and Registrar KMU Inamullah Wazir were also present at the signing ceremony, according to a statement issued on Monday.
This partnership will facilitate advanced training for KP nurses, delivered by faculty from prestigious UK medical schools. The Chief Minister's goal is to enhance nursing standards in KP to align with international benchmarks. To support this initiative, the KP Government will fund the training for 503 public sector nurses.
The UK team praised KMU’s facilities and initiatives and committed to training 503 public sector nurses and 196 private sector nurses in seven batches over the next year.
