Prime Minister Imran Khan to Implement MTI Act Across Pakistan

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, under the guidance Pakistan’s Prime Minister and Chairman PTI, Imran Khan, has planned to implement Medical Teaching Institutions Reforms Act 2015 in rest of the country, particularly in Punjab, following its introduced in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2015.

It has also planned to introduce changes to Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP), and provide the country with an enhanced National health policy.

Prime Minister, Imran Khan has decided to utilize services of Dr. Nausherwan Burki, a US-based Senior Pulmonologist, who is the planner of MTI Act 2015.

The PTI leadership has formed a task force, handling issues related to public health and medical teaching within the country.

In previously established boards, some members were known for their suspicious activities and were influencing hospital authorities in recruitment and procurement. To avoid this, Dr. Burki is planning to select new Board of Governors (BoGs) and replace the interim boards.

Among all the BoGs, the performance of Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) board was ranked the best.

Rules and regulations of all MTIs will be revised and their implementation will be certain.

The delayed Peshawar Institute of Cardiology (PIC) project will be overseen and taken to completion soon, by making it a state-of-the-art cardiac centre, all under the supervision of Dr. Nausherwan Burki.
